Ah San Hokkien Mee 阿善福建虾面

Popular

Details

Locals refer to the odd stand as Ah San Hokkien Mee, and it is hidden within a nearby house in a tiny village. Even after more than 30 years in operation, business is booming every day as normal.

Although Ah San Hokkien Mee has a sizable eating area, we had trouble finding a table during the lunch hour on a weekday. There were a lot of people there, mostly students and others who may work nearby. We were forced to wait at least 10-15 minutes before being served, but fortunately we were able to find a table quickly and there are still noodles remaining for us.

The Hokkien Mee was excellent. Although it has an average flavour, the aroma of flavorful prawns is overpowering. We did observe that many customers chose the instant noodles to accompany the hokkien mee, so we felt obligated to do the same. However, in our humble opinion, the traditional yellow noodles and vermicelli continued to be a preferable option.

Remember the sambal, which was really hot and gave the soup an especially spicy flavour.
