Since it first opened in 2011, China House has completely changed the café industry in Penang. China House is more than simply a coffee shop; it is also a bakery, wine bar, art gallery, library, etc. Furthermore, China House offers three eateries, each with a unique menu.

Kopi C is China House’s most popular eatery. This 24-hour Australian-style café serves cuisine with local influences that are popular with locals and visitors. Kopi C serves Western breakfast from open till 6:00pm, salad and sandwiches for lunch, and simple fast entrées for dinner. As the names indicate, Kopi C has a coffee bar to appease everyone’s daily caffeine demand.

The BTB Restaurant is China House’s fine dining restaurant. The abbreviation “BTB” refers to “Bon Ton Bistro,” which serves specialties from its Langkawi-based sister restaurant, Bon Ton Restaurant & Resort. The menu offers a broad selection of Western, Malay, and Middle Eastern cuisines. BTB Restaurant is open from 6:30pm to 10:30pm.

The third eatery, The Canteen, is where most people hang out at night. The restaurant’s cuisine emphasizes finger food and quick bites. Bento boxes are also offered for simple takeout. Nightlife is prominent at The Canteen, especially on weekends. Live music starts playing here every day at 9:30pm, keeping the environment alive.

The bakery section of China House, Beach Street Bakery, is one of the most unexpected features. 12 pastry chefs are on duty and work nonstop to provide more than 30 different types of cakes at any given time. To mention a few, there are sponge cakes, cheesecakes, pies, and cookies. There are occasionally new cakes offered; nothing is constant in this place.
